Lights Out Poem by Yewande Adedokun

Lights Out

A little light burning in the darkness as I see
Breath in death and breath out life, Tantra says;
Close your eyes and open the third, it says again;
Touch the vitality of life and be reborn
It is not new anymore. The mystery of life is being re-used
But alas, there is something I long to know
The mystery of God. My mission begins

I am done with man. I only but bear witness to its ignorance and growth
Super natural beings watch over the city at lights out, so do I
Birds fly by day and nest at night, this time, my soul takes flight
Curious of nothing in its essence I still search
Man relate not with my deep thoughts, most find it scary
I must therefore live in the lights out
Knowing about all that is laid to rest and beyond.
Let the light shine in the dead of the night when man think he has put it all off
