Like A Modern Delilah (English Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

Like A Modern Delilah (English Sonnet)

Without you I know no joy or sorrow,
as the sun is on its way going down,
do not know what waits in the tomorrow,
if it will be a day alone in our town.

The skyline and hillocks gleam red as fire
while in the sky multiplies star after star
and in my heart for you there is desire
where away you live not too near or far.

With our marriage on hold I have no anger.
Tonight the town is full of sparkling lights,
senseless my days are now without languor,
to pagan delights pulsing music invites.

It seem like Delilah you betrayed me
and waiting I wonder how can this love be?
