Like An Earth Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Like An Earth

I hear the warning
The cyclone is coming
It may knock down
Huts and houses even

I hear him coming
It is time for welcoming
He may take me by storm
Like cyclone to hit me and keep warm

Like an earth, I have remained thirsty
With no sign of dark clouds, I am down with worries
Now his arrival rings me in ears
I await his knock to hear

What will he do first?
I feel shy and feel thirst
The throat choke and voice disappear
I really develop fear

I have known him for years
He has everything to offer
Apart from fulfilling my dryness
And restoring shin on face

Why does it happen again and again?
That eagerness still remain
I float in dream and stare
He will come and grab me from somewhere
