LIKE AN EVERGREEN TREE!
My form reflected on the mirror is but a
shadow,
And my shadow on the ground is only a
dream!
I have weathered many seasons like a full
grown tree!
My bark is weather-beaten and with my
arms raised, - I sing!
My trunk has grown many concentric rings!
When I shall lie felled, those rings my age
shall tell!
Now through prayers and meditation I have
grown spiritual roots!
Eternal hope, aspiration and creative thoughts,
Spring up within the fountain of my mind!
But do remember to keep a place in your bosom
deep inside, -
One day I may come back as a screaming child!

The parallel between he evergreen tree and yourself is skillfully executed and this is a philosophical and inspirational poem. I thoroughly enjoyed particularly the last two lines! ! ! 10 Karin Anderson
