As a young girl growing up,
I was ‘in love' with Conway Twitty.
Whenever I heard his song
‘Linda on my Mind',
I imagined that he was singing
about me.
I also loved Hello Darlin',
Tight Fittin' Jeans,
Slow Hand, The Rose, and
You've Never Been this Far Before,
although my mother disapproved
of some of those because they were
too sexually explicit.
Conway Twitty's real name
was Harold Lloyd Jenkins.
He was also an excellent
baseball player.
The Philadelphia Phillies offered him
a contract right out of high school,
but he got drafted into the army
before he could sign,
He was born in 1933 and passed away
in 1993 at the age of only fifty-nine.
I just heard ‘Linda on my Mind'
on the radio this morning
and it brought back
such pleasant memories.
