Linen Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Linen

Linen

Order said to tailor:
"Make us showy jacket,
Quite thick, two layers,
Cover hides the linen."

The core of intention
Was to ignore linen.

Linen was a fighter
Against the racism
So, trick was needed!

With tailor he spoke
Sticking to manner
Of hiding intention.

"On its sides and on chest
Need to have good pockets,
Nice design for collar."
Tailor heard, firmed order.

At home, when undressed
White-House looked in mirror:
"Very good, excellent! "

That jacket is worn and
Showed off in occasions:
"Dream-land, USA
Has the best freedom,
Nobody is detained
For his faith, nor color! "

Luther King made cover
And linen, Malcolm X.

Both fighters for people,
Both lovely and brave,
Both useful and great,
But King was Christian
And Malcolm, a Muslim,
"The priests fanned fire! "
