Lion's Share Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Lion's Share

"Come to me, I shall accept"
I prayed silently and wept
How true it was for us to remain
With dignity and maintain

Why do we count years of living?
Celebrate birthdays with reckless driving
Enjoying no real life and creating tense situation
With no aim for cordial relation

I see leaves falling in each season
They have life span and reasons too
How long will they stay?
Anytime they will be swept away

I have given special thought
For collection of wealth or sought
I feel it was futile drive
Merely to stick with greed and survive

I hear silent bells
They continuously tell
"Beware; your time is up anytime"
I am not upset if that comes

It needs lion's heart
From the beginning or start
If you are clever enough
You shall simply laugh
