Listen Poem by tiffany fawcett

Listen

Listen
If I told you, would you listen?
Would you even understand?
Would you even care?
Would help me if you could?

You tell me to trust you
Yet you do things that make me distrust you
You tell me things will be okay
Yet things fall even deeper in the black hole as you speak

Could you just listen?
Not give me some little pep talk that you think will help
Could you just understand?
Not say that I should get some help

Can't you see that I don't want help, much less need it
Can't you see that you can't fix me?
Can't you just accept who I am?
Can't you just love me for me?

I understand now why you can't
Because I wasn't ready for your acceptance
I wasn't ready for your love
But now I am and my arms are wide open
