Little Bird Poem by Holly Jamestone

Little Bird

Little bird with tattered wing
Impossible to fly
Fighting back the inner tears
Gazing toward the sky

Sweetest bird of all the flock
Looking for a friend
Scared to ask for any aid
Hoping pain will end

Fragile bird, oh, little one
Slowly trying to stand
Never losing inner strength
Please take me by the hand

Gentle bird, my injured friend
Perhaps we'll see the sun
I'll comfort you, you'll cradle me
Now far from everyone

Little bird, don't be afraid
I see you in the mirror
We're intertwined, inseparable
Please wipe away my tear

Frightened bird, I know you can't
Prepare me for this flight
Can't hold me now, can't calm my fears
Or get me through the night

My precious bird, I see it all
Be still now, not a word
I'll stand up, be on my way, as I'm the
LITTLE BIRD
