Little Monkey - In Memory Poem by Zia Eybers

Little Monkey - In Memory

My soul feels utterly torn
Forever I think I will mourn
Not too long ago you were born
Now lifeless……
My conscience forever will be scorn

Unpreventable…
You ended up under heavy metal
I wish this ache in my heart will settle
I am so sorry precious little friend
If I had the power, your body I would’ve mend

Tearful I laid you to rest
Between a greenery vest
As greenery is what you knew best

Oh! Go away dreadful pain in my chest

Little monkey….
The memory of you, I’ll carve into my minds ivory
Forever you’ll stay my own secret memory
Never to be forgotten
Forever I will feel guilty and rotten
