Great Ant Poem by Zia Eybers

Great Ant

I leave you some sugar
I leave you some crumbs
Everything I break into bite size lumps

In a well organized line
I can only describe as perfectly fine
You quietly came along
With an unvoiced feasting song

Ever busy bodies in precious pearly black
Tiny yes, but strength you do not lack
Strange you never sleep
For vital order you have to keep

Treasured sugar you find
Not one bit of crumb you leave behind
Bite size lumps you've seen
Swiftly you bear all to your Queen

Constantly carrying and lifting
The Earth you keep shifting
Still you never retire or pant
Cause Glorious you are...
Great Ant
