Lockdown Poem by Kenneth Maswabi

Lockdown

This misery is a necessity
A blanket to keep away the cold dark night
That envelopes the world
Lockdown is not a tool
To oppress the masses
It's a fine needle
That is full of life-giving elements
Lockdown is not the answer
To the oppressor's aggression
Channel not your anger
Beyond the closed gates of your heart
Let your ego
Fill the empty streets of your heart
It's not uncommon
For violence to be unleashed
In times like this
Lockdown is not an excuse
To spill the venom
On innocent people
