Lone Marinar Poem by Amitava Sur

Lone Marinar

Rating: 4.0

Lone mariner:
==========================
Deep inside the dark blue sea
Smoothly sails my ship amidst.
Miles away, from my sweet little home
The mariner on the deck, myself alone.
Looking blankly to the vast ocean blue,
Feel deserted between the sky and the sea.
I see the birds flying free on their wide wings.
Playing hide and seek with the moving clouds.

Me the lone mariner, home away
Do dream like –
Did I have the wings - strong and wide
I also would fly up to the ultimate height.
I would go on flying up and up in abundance
Leaving behind all the sorrows and pains.

I would float with a rose in my beak
Leaving a kiss on my beloved’s chick.

My dear my love - please don’t leave me alone
I flew a long way to live along,
Keep a tiny space in your heart for mine
I’ll live there for good and feel divine.

Being alone at sea - a lone mariner - feeling deserted and lost between the sky and sea. Yet having the presence of mind to touch on such an ordinary sight in life as watching birds flying and playing hide and seek. Even through the turmoil of pain, loss and suffering, dreaming of having wings and taking flight, kissing his love's cheek while floating with a rose in his beak. So tenderly pleading for a tiny space in her heart to keep him with her, while feeling the diving touch him. All the while taking from the lonely emptiness of the sea. Splendid imagery, expression of love and intense desire to be with his love. Beautifully written, Amitava. RoseAnn

A beautiful poem about being alone on the deep blue sea. The birds even disappear within the moving clouds which makes it all the more tranquil. A soothing write.
