Lonely Love Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Lonely Love

Over the verdant hills and beyond
Across the stretch of a chilly night
Her song comes floating when
A shining meteor takes downward flight

Across the fields when silence reigns
And a lamp is lit in a little cottage
Her song can be heard at a distance
As mist gathers slowly in a blurred haze

Through the foliage, thick and green
That stands like curtain dark and thick
She weeps remembering her love
Reclining against a tree, cold and seek

Night gathers near darkening west
Stars cease to drop their sharp glow
The song dies at the edge of the grove
From her eyes tear ceases to flow

From treetops towards a glowing sky
Shedding their plumes birds do fly
On the bed of leaves she slowly dies
No one is there to weep and sigh
