Lonely Tree Poem by Bernice Lopez

Lonely Tree

Oh lonely tree, Oh lonely tree
You stand there all alone
In a woodland full of trees
Yet you still remain alone

You appear to be noble
and full of many years
Your gigantic in height
as you soar through the sky
With your branches spread
like an angel's wings
and your bright leaves dancing
through the wind

Oh lonely tree, Oh lonely tree
I'm sadden by your solitary
If you need a friend
You can confide in me
because being alone
is unnecessary.

Oh sweet child, Oh sweet child
Your heart is full of love
Through your eyes
it may appear that way
but I am far from being alone

Although I stand here
apart from the others
I have plenty of friends
around me.

You see,
Every morning the sun rises
to greet me with a hello.
Throughout the day the birds come
to sing a lovely song

Who can't forget about the squirrels
Who are constantly making me smile
and every now and then
Mr. Wind comes around
Disturbing everything around
but once we start to mingle
He becomes polite and calm
But most of all my sweet child
I have you as a friend.
