Long Time Dead Poem by Randy McClave

Long Time Dead

As many have wrote and said
You are a long time dead,
So, before your actions or an unremorseful saying
First get on your knees, and then begin praying.
Say that your sorry whenever that you can
Own up to it, be you either woman or man,
If you speak not your regret for the recipient to hear
You will never find any peace, compassion or cheer.
Say that you're sorry especially when it is your own fault
Don't convert to blindness, deafness or assault,
Remember, you are only a short time living
So, you should be apologizing and also forgiving.
Do not ever live in fear or sadness or regret
Remember, an apology is an owed debt,
And that debt gathers interest over days, months and years
Which the earnings are worries, anguish and tears.
If tomorrow is going to be your very last day
What now are you going to say,
Are you going to meet your maker with apologies unspoken
Or will you meet God with hearts and dignities broken.
When you wake up early or late on this vey morning
Let your dreams and your feelings be your warning,
Remember, no matter where your convictions have led
In the end, you are a long time dead.
