Long Wait

One of the two Johns in the office
drew the short shred
and agreed to answer to 'Johnny'.

'That is your to-name ('to' not 'toe') ',
he knows
he would have liked to have been told,

but 'to-name' waited forty-four years,
till he was sixty-eight years old.
