Look How Recklessly The Moon Is Shining Poem by Gert Strydom

Look How Recklessly The Moon Is Shining

My darling, look how recklessly the moon is shining,
see how all of the stars sparkle
as if never again
there will be a night like this.

Have you not read my message
in the stars above your head?
How much I love you,
where you are here next to me?

I wish I could put all of the flowering jacaranda trees
in all of Pretoria
into my words to you

and all of the flowers in our garden
to make you realise how beautiful this spring is

but I am saying only
how much I love you,
where you are here next to me.
