Lord Krishna Poem by Tushar Ray

Lord Krishna

Behold our beloved Krishna in the bustle of the battlefield
The essence of vigor and virtue as the supreme Godhead
As charioteer of Arjuna amid muddle of the war-drums
Advising his down friend on nature of the battle of Dharma

Bhagbat Geeta is telling of the Lord to war-anxious Arjuna
And the essence of this version is now too well known
That led Arjuna to fight firm and win battle in the end
Showing a strong mental uplift that anyone could understand

Work must we all perform according to innate nature
As none can escape from work yet fulfill ones heart's desire
So our duty is to find a path based on balanced ethics
And stay on the fair course in thoughts words and deeds

As Karma-Yogi we must act with command over own mind
With heart full of compassion and a feel for people around
So a neutral road can be taken in the interest of all concerned
And justice is made possible for the sake of dharma abound

Best way to perform work is to work for the sake of work
With no anticipation whatsoever on the fruits of works done
Except for a joyous privilege of giving our best in action
Leaving fruit to the Indweller Lord for avoiding self-reaction

Karma must we all do according to our innate Dharma (nature)
And do these in selfless mode for the benefit of all in mind
Only then we will be able to pass sinful effects of Karma
So preserving our inner peace by the grace of Lord Krishna

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is based on the battlefield story of Bhagbat Gita, the great religious classic and world's most translated book, next to the Bible. This is the famous teaching of Lord Krishna to the commander Arjuna, as his friend and spiritual guide, for the plight of Arjuna after Arjuna saw his kinsmen and friends on his opposite side.

Krishna's reply not only fits Ajuna's problems but also deals with the universal question that concerns us all in our hostile world. These are fundamental questions like, why there is misery? Why do we exist? What is the purpose of life?

Krishna delivered his advices to Arjuna in a grand poetic form unparalleled in the poetry universe.
