Losing Myself Poem by Rachel Brewer

Losing Myself

I’m losing myself.
In this world.
I can’t help it.
Always trying to be,
Who I’m not.
For others,
Who wouldn’t like me,
As me.
I know I shouldn’t,
But it’s what people want.
They don’t want me.
They want the person,
I could have been.
The person,
I should have been.
They don’t want to believe in me.
That’s why I’m losing myself.
People don’t see,
What’s inside.
They don’t want to.
So I hide,
And smile.
To give them what they really want.
I want to be beautiful,
But I’m not,
To them.
I just want to be seen.
For me,
As me,
And for people,
Everyone,
To just take me as I am.
