Lost Poem by Bonnie B Long

Lost

You never know what you have until you might lose it
Thinking of that you might not have said
Did you say I love you, or have a nice day?
When it had been awhile did you say I missed you?
You feel so helpless when you’re so far away
There’s nothing you can do or say.

Praying is your only way to console yourself
Asking for the Lord’s help the best you can do
To heal his soul and injuries
You miss him knowing you may never see him again
Knowing that his time on earth may be short
And there may be nothing you can do to help

All you want to hear is that he is on the road to recovery
And that it won’t be long till you see him again
Being his normal loving compassionate self
Thinking of others before himself
Letting you know that you are loved for you
Knowing that he is there for all of his friends
Someone on whom you can depend

So hurry back to us whether here on earth
Or looking down on us from heaven
Should God decide to bring you home
He will have taken an angel from our midst
Angels without wings are known as friends
