Lost Love Poem by Mihaela Pirjol

Lost Love

Rating: 5.0

In a lifetime, there are moments of love;
And in reminiscing—a profound sadness;
Fractions of seconds of hope for the lover:
Consecutively fading both—in dullness.

I have tried to capture and hold them still:
Those precious feelings, as a whole;
But then they hurt, and weaken my will:
Sweet is the illusion of my flying soul!

A fusion of thoughts unravels on my mental-screen:
Deep-scarred wounds attached to some;
Some others—star-dust of forgotten dream:
I watch them passing, and wonder if are gone...

There is almost a bleeding pain in loss:
A love never possessed—can tear the heart when part!
Though still alive, dwelling in my very core;
And yet, I barely breathe its little life apart...

This is a poem written on the far side of experience, it is is a mature look at the loves and losses that make up our lives. As such, it has a sadness that inevitably accompanies affairs of the heart. I can imagine a reader saying, I'm not ready for this poem and shutting your book, so to speak. But it tells the truth and eventually the truth will find a way into our minds and instruct the heart. Certain lines affected me deeply like STARDUST OF FORGOTTEN DREAM and SWEET IS MY ILLUSION 'NON-CAGED SOUL' - Beautiful Poem!
