I held it tenderly in my hand
I had dived below deepest end
To save this pearl, so dear
I turned it around, so slow
As it reflected the sea, so blue
And mimicked the sun, so fair
But then I saw it fall
And could not react any fast
The tide tore us apart
The storm carried the dream away
I sit broken-hearted on the shore
Knowing if I dare to dive below once more
This particular pearl I may not find again
For the ocean floor has never been calm
