The Worshipper Pledge Poem by Benjamin Paa Willie

The Worshipper Pledge

They were three black dogs
My lady
They stopped me from entering
The Cathedral
They won’t pray; they won’t allow
Me either

My lady the Cathedral won’t allow me either
They barked; no! They roared, they roared
I scuttled off. Angrily they said
“The Cathedral was built in the place of the iroko”

I shall return, my queen, blessed with a halo
And recite while in your Tabernacle
“I am all yours my queen and my lady
And all that I have is yours”
