Lost To Time Poem by Barry Middleton

Lost To Time

Rating: 5.0

the past will often coax a smile
and yet I also cry
for long lost friends and destiny
and all the times gone by

the sleepy Mississippi town
the innocence of youth
adventure in the summertime
and brotherhood and truth

I can recall these even now
and claim they are not lost
I close my eyes and they return
and yet there is a cost

precious memories linger still
but it occurs to me
for every one I might recall
another one must flee

and so I laugh and cry at once
for fragile memory
and all the moments lost to time
beyond my reverie

Once again, a marvel. Memories never leave us. They make us happy n sad at the same time. I really like this picture of your home town. There is a peace n serenity about it n i hope n pray peace always prevails. A 10.

Thanks Nosheen. The home town was very peaceful when I was a child but not as much now. The world does not see to be changing for the better.
