Lourdes Grotto Poem by Michael J ORourke2

Lourdes Grotto

Rating: 5.0

Lourdes Grotto

A light but cutting wind ruffled the water

And entered into a world completely silent

Except for the rustling of the river Gave

Dark clouds fringed with silver moonlight

Passed in the candle- lit solemn night

Breathing was synchronized to the rosary chant

We gulped deep drafts of the damp Grotto air

Our hearts transfixed by Mary's prayer

As we processed through the misty rain

The soul rose above all pleasures and pains

The candles brightened the glimmering darkness

The breeze worked its way against the weather - beaten rocks

While water dripped through worn crevices

To touch our finger and palm

And so induce a world of calm
