Love After Love, After Love (A Hindi/Urdu Translation Of A Poem By The Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott) Poem by Ravi Kopra

Love After Love, After Love (A Hindi/Urdu Translation Of A Poem By The Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott)

vo bhi waqt aaey ga
jab khushi se aone darwaazay par
apna swagat karo gay
chehra apna sheeshay main dekho gay
aur ek doosaray pe muskrao gay

aur kaho gay, baitho yahaan. Kuch bhojan kar lo.
tum fir us ajnabi ko jo tum ko chahta, pyar karna shuroo kar do gay
shrab usay pilao gay, khana usay khilao gay
jis ajnabi ne tumain pyar kiya tha
dil apna usko de do gay

zindgi bhar jo tum ko dil se chata tha
choD kar usay tum kisi doosray k peecHay thay.
utaar do bookshelf se paDay hue mohabat k khat

tasweerain, niraash tippiniaN,
aaenay se apna aksh kheench lo
baith jaao, zindgi k mazay karo.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.
