Love Is God Poem by Mohammad Younus

Love Is God

Look! Humans live through love—
human life depends on love.
Merely eating food and wearing clothes
do not sustain a person.
It is not by effort or toil alone
that one survives;
it is love—tender, boundless, eternal—that keeps a person alive.

Once, I thought
that the sole purpose of those on earth
was simply to live—to exist,
as other living beings do,
to tread through days like passing shadows.
But now, I see clearly:
the true religion of humanity is not mere survival,
but to live with love and compassion.

For this, the Divine has not commanded
what one should desire for themselves,
but rather, what others may need.
In the Divine's heart beats a single wish:
that humans live as vessels of love,
as rivers of kindness
flowing to every parched soul.

I am now certain:
human life depends on love.
Those who love dwell near to the Divine,
and the Divine resides in the hearts of those who love.
Between God and love,
there is no veil, no separation.

Love is God,
and love is divinity.

As these words left my lips,
the angel rose towards the heavens,
its wings radiant with a glow no darkness could dim.
The air trembled and sang:

Love is God.
God is love.
Love is God.

May we live this truth:
to love is to reflect the face of the Divine.
To love is to truly live.
