Love Lost, Friendship Found Poem by Ima Ryma

Love Lost, Friendship Found

The two of us, young and in love,
Decided that a married life
Would be the happy ending of
Our dream as husband and wife.
Together we did lots of stuff,
Often for appearances sake,
But somehow that was not enough.
Excuses each of us would make.
Over time we two grew apart,
But pretended that all was well.
Neither one of us had the heart
To each other the truth to tell.

As happens sometimes in divorce,
We became good friends in due course.
