Love's Chemistry - Poem by Biff McGuire

In the beginning, alchemy demands
Attention keen
Hormonal love is easy
Along the way, words sharpened
Bee stings, piranhas’ bite
Honed with practice
Precision dissections
Wound, heal, wound, heal, wound
Desensitizing cycle till
Sprocket breaks, chain falls
Then, what was that word
Once echoing everywhere?
Lost in the wind now
Chemistry's reagents dissolve
Litmus neutrality says
Move on
