Love’s Wings

Rating: 5.0

A butterfly fluttered by,
one of life’s tiny miracles,
a rainbow all within itself,
riding the wind,
peaceful and free.

It reminded me of love.
If you find it,
hold it gently
to your heart.
Squeeze it tight,
or chafe its wings,
it too will die

and so it is with me.
Hold me close
with open arms.
Only then will I feel
free to be with you.

The fragility of the butterfly's wings is a perfect metaphor for the vulnerability of the beloved and the need to always temper passion with tenderness. A beautiful poem about a beautiful subject. Love, Allie xxxx
