Lover Of The Night Poem by Sucharita Bhattacharya

Lover Of The Night

Rating: 5.0

Beneath the windswept moonlit sky
The tranquil, cloudless autumn sky
The Night enrobed in purple hue
Sings a silent melody, and true
This voice, this song from lips unseen
Enchants my soul, this voice serene.
The murmurs from the trees tonight
Bespeak of the haunting charm of Night;
This nameless grace, it lingers still
With such strange joy my heart it fills.
Gossamer dreams and thoughts astray,
From slumbered minds, they steal away;
I feel their languid, breezy flight,
I taste their nebulous, transient light.
The mildly scented breeze it blows.
Which blossom has lent its fragrance, who knows?
Sleeps the world a dreamless sleep
The bright daylight is theirs to keep;
And I stay bathed in this borrowed light,
I, the lover of the Night.

A nice piece of poetry, well articulated and written in poetic diction to capture the serenity of a cloudless autumn night. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing and do keep it up. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
