How lucky I am

that it took a genocide

to bring my orphaned parents

together in the Diaspora

among millions of people

scattered on this planet.



How lucky I am

that my first half was chosen

from hundreds of ova

and my second half

from billions of spermatozoa

condemned to oblivion.



How lucky I am

that I have reached a ripe old age

and have children and grand children

and have not yet succumbed to illness,

disaster, or violence,

in such an unstable world.
