Made Dumb By Its Kiss Poem by Leslie Alexis

Made Dumb By Its Kiss

Love laughs at logic:
It sees the future -
Today’s tomorrow -
And says what goes up
Doesn’t always come down
Sometimes it goes round
And round, in the sky.
Knowing not to fall
Yesterday is defied
And skeptics enthralled.
It takes the path of ball
Having no start, no end.
Like a vortex it sways
Sanguinely twists, tends,
Taking and giving
As of lovers' needs.
Love gives its own seeds
From an ancient tree
Grown on empty lands
That never is seen
By the common eye
But touches passersby
When they bump their head
Upon its lower reach
They are made dumb by its kiss;
Yet some stoop- instead
Of knowing love's way
They remain victims of
Logic, and all its dismay.
