Madsen Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Madsen

The pastures of the wilderness and the pastors of the hills,
I see lawlessness around me and i hear the bullets of war!
And the poor man's garden is trampled by the big foot of the rich.

The right and the straight of the face of your love,
There is no longer truth in your mouth;
Because you slept with another man last night,
And they bought slaves and made profit overnight.

They were all dead when the summer rain came in,
And i was standing at the corner with Madsen watching;
But rebuke the beast among the reeds for,
My eyes are darkened and i cannot see.
