Maggot Poem by R K Summers

Maggot

I dreamed of a black wolf
Swollen with gore and poison
It stood in the snow
Lifted its dripping muzzle
And snarled at me
And in a human tongue
It said

You are a corporate maggot. Your creativity is crushed beneath the boot of industry.

I am the forces that drive. I am hate, and greed, and pain. I am terror and war and doubt.

I replied to the wolf,
His fresh kill still on his jaws
Fatted with lies and prey,

Beast! Said I,
Retreat! Spread no more discord here!

It replied, Maggot! Crawl back to your workstation and toil!
Strip your name and respond to a number.

I am a corporate maggot. My creativity is crushed beneath the boot of industry.
