R K Summers Poems

A whisper in your heart
When love is torn apart
Before your very eyes
A storm within your mind
...

This song I sing is for your heart
Not your ears
Take it with you, and listen for it
In the trees and the wind
...

Clockwork ticker, beating pulse
It lives and loves on wild impulse
Shiver and shake like feverish imps
If you look inside and take a glimpse
...

I sat upon my window ledge,
And sang my song of sorrow.
I stepped into the evening air,
And wondered of tomorrow.
...

Let’s talk about war
We’ll discuss Tennyson
And Brooke
Owen
...

A wolf is descending
A wolf with a single, piercing, blazing blue eye
And a Great Father who spawned his children from his own broken body.
The armour protects the fleshy child within
...

To the east lies Aryndel,
The cathedral on the moor.
To the west is Brackenpeth,
The home of barbarian shore.
...

The sky is burning!
Fog or flames?
Why is the horizon blushed
With hues of fire and fear?
...

Behind the emerald ferns,
Bowstrings taut and set,
Between the trunks of mighty oaks
Where the fairies met
...

“There is a War in Heaven”

The wingbeats of distant angels
Sound against the sky
...

They call her Tatty Hex
I heard them call her fae
She’s the one who flies at night
To drive the ghosts away
...

At night
At my window
I look out
The moon is a midnight sun
...

Her world is shaped by nameless things
Hear the wordless song she sings
It whispers in the darkened halls
It lives, it deepens, and it calls.
...

15.

Up on the fields of red and gold
There stood a warrior bright and bold
Had I his sword and helm in hands
Marched on armies of northern bands
...

A crouching beast
Lonely on the wild black moors
Of wild black England
Snow swirls
...

It happened on my way to work this morning
Plugged in and barely awake
The cool crisp mist melting on my warm face
Dreading the day to come
...

With hair the soft feathers of shadow
And eyes like the ocean at night
His staff a branch of deathwrought yew
And his heart devoid of light
...

Books are my addiction
And literature my high
I love to sit and read the words
That make me touch the sky
...

I’ll sit upon your rooftop
And cast my glittering gaze
Across your feeble landscape
That’s lost in winter haze
...

R K Summers Biography

Hailing from the grim and grey North East, RK Summers is a great lover and hoarder of books. Her love of the literary world began at the tender age of five, when, as a ridiculously serious child, she wrote her first ‘story’ about a dancing tree, complete with a bittersweet ending as a lament for the loss of fairy tale magic. Her fascination with the ancient legends of Britain has led her into many adventures in Faeryland, and she often requests to be given back to the faeries if she’s found wandering. When she’s not writing down these adventures, she enjoys the music of Loreena McKennitt, the peace and quiet of woodland, and picnicking. Her vices include (but are not limited to) addiction to coffee, sugary foods, tormenting human beings, and video games.)

The Best Poem Of R K Summers

The Angel

A whisper in your heart
When love is torn apart
Before your very eyes
A storm within your mind
When hope becomes entwined
And ashes fall from the skies

The angel takes down the sword
Warning the heavenly lord
Dying in the snow
Hands pressed in worship
Prayers hang on her lips
Drowning in her woe

Eastern promises of love
On wings of a silver dove
Awaken the fire inside
Kisses are nothing but lies
From lips that speak goodbyes
A celestial Jekyll and Hyde
