>≫≫Magic Ring From India

Laid upon a sick bed
mother of a girl, eighteen
frantically asked if I am Indian
after saying, yes, I was handed over a ring
sent them by her only son, Frank
and requested to read and tell her
if her only son was alive
fighting the war of eighteen fifty seven
at the border of Afghanistan

I did not understand
And asked a bit detail of the matter
Which I understood after being explained was that
‘’if you concentrate on a distant person
As you gaze on the ring you will be able to see him and what he is doing’’
Exactly what was said to Frank by the Yogi from whom the ring was bought.’’

Both mother and daughter
Gazed upon it again and again
As they did have news from Frank for long
But nothing was seen by them

As I am from India
I could try and able to see
Something.

I took the ring in my hand
And nothing I saw
Except the ordinary glass stuck into it after hard concentration

I exclaimed at last and gave up
And changed the topic
As I did not wish to break their heart
By telling that like Indian they, too, had been superstitious.
