Mahebourg Poem by spiritual seeker

Mahebourg

"Assalamualaikom…
Peace be upon you…
Can I help you?
Ah… from Malaysia!
I met people from Malaysia many years ago during Haj,
Nice people…
Let me show you your guest house sir,
In that direction, can't miss sir! ..."
Alone, thousands of miles away from home…
Walking under a light drizzle with dark clouds overhanging,
Already I felt safe and warm inside,
People of darker complexion, Indian, African, mixed…
Speaking with a gentle melodious creole dialect…
Calm and unhurried… a spontaneous smile in their faces,
Hindus, Christians, Muslims…
Beautiful people,
a precious black pearl in the Indian Ocean,
Mauritius… an island Paradise.
