The Girl Who Has No Email Poem by spiritual seeker

The Girl Who Has No Email

Rating: 4.8

She is black and she is tall,
A little shy…
Spoke so softly, I could hardly hear her voice.
-Sit down please. What is your good name?
-Mary Sir.
-So, you are looking for opportunities to study in Malaysia,
Let me see your grades…
Hmmm… you have excellent grades in your O and A level…
Do you have a scholarship?
-No sir
-Let me write your email… I might be able to help you.
-Sir, I don’t have an email, in fact my house don’t have electricity…
I live in a small village far away from Nairobi,
And I walked many miles daily to school.
……I was speechless… and she just want to be a nurse!

A poetic conversation laced with kindness and empathy. Great! We cant imagine life without gadgets! then what about people without food and shelter........ truth is not only bitter, indigestible sometimes.

A thought provoking tale, coming from Ottawa Ontario, its interesting to hear these stories, as it really broadens my understanding of other peoples backgrounds. Technology is such a constant in our lives, that to not have it is almost seen as a new taboo, your considered a monger if you don't accept certain things, its almost accepted that you have to have these tools, a computer is the modern word, if you do not have it, it means your not considered literate, although most people have done well. But ignore what I'm saying this is a Great Poem!

Beautiful reminder, you know lot of potential people living around the world but they didnt have chance...so we are supposedly play our role to push these hidden gems to shine...and it is not onlt for her or for him but to whole human population....just like her, if she can be nurse, she cant give noble service in many people in her country... this is how heart and humanity should be link from human to human...love it_Soul

Thank you for sharing your experience with poetic beauty. Appreciate your understanding mind and (anticipated) kindness shown to the aspiring girl. Hope she saw her desire (to become a nurse) fulfilled, and will show similar empathy to her patients in her career.

Excellent. I love the story. I am sure, my friend, you must feel a great peace of mind, helping these underprivileged young people. Every child has the right to a good education. We cannot help all, but even if we help few, that is really wonderful work.
