Making A Snowman Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Making A Snowman

Conditions have to be just right
For the creation of a visual delight
Not too cold with the wind blowing…
But when snow packs well for throwing

Instead of taking aim at a target goal
Take the rounded fistful and start to roll
Soft snow will begin to layer as it clings
Rounding and growing with concentric rings

Make an a-mazing path through the fresh snow
It will plump in size until it is too heavy to go
Now it is time to make another like the other
Only slightly smaller, like a younger brother

You may need a friend or an inclined plane
To place the bellied chest in its proper domain
Center and steady, pack the seams with care
Now, start one more for a head with nary a hair

Stretch and place the fat face on top to complete
He won’t be going anywhere soon; he has no feet…
His persona is rather nil; he will need a personality
Bulging pinecone eyes give him a sense of originality

A soggy red curved sock is pressed into a frozen smile….
A wig of twisted mop strands will certainly beguile
Now for a unique hat; an upside down orange flowerpot
Lastly, a scarf to prevent a sore throat from being got
