Man Of God Poem by David Thomas

Man Of God

Man of God you righteous man,
they love and profess love unto you
through you and above you or from below
i here be the one who's trust you will never hold
for i do not trust a man who does not know himself.

I may be ugly at the core i may be violent
and mad,
but many sides as i do have you will know
for i harbor no secrets of that kind in my soul
My oaths are my own and my values hold true
even when my faith wavers,
unlike you- Man of God-
when your faith wavers you could slay families
or murder puppies,
without having ever been pushed past the limit
into such a dangerous misty void,
where in you should my trusts lay?
You know of anger hurt and pain
you know of lust happyness and shame

but what of blinded rage corrupted pride
and a sense of justice so profound
that countless must fall to its finger raised?
In times of great peril you would preach we sit before you and bow
are pretty little heads
yet in times of peril those like me
will be the heroes or villains striking
down the very evil you pray for relief from,
which in some unfortunate cases may in-fact be yourself.

I trust not no Man of God for he does not know himself true,
and thus he cannot help me nor you.
