Man Released From Prison Poem by Pam Morris

Man Released From Prison

A man who hit
and killed a teenage girl
is getting out of prison
after serving less than half his sentence.
Thursday afternoon, a judge
granted 'judicial release' to
the 23-year-old
In May of 2004, he swerved
and hit and killed 15-year-old Jessica Humphreys.
State troopers say he had
marijuana in his system.
He was sentenced to two
years behind bars, but only served 8 months.
he will be on probation for
5 years. He will also have
to get more drug treatment counseling.
It is not enough time for someone
who killed my best friend.
