Manly Effort (By St. Thiruvalluvar In Tamil)

611.Don’t get dejected presuming something is hard to do.
Strenuous efforts give great strength to do it.
612.The world deserts those who leave chosen work incomplete
Don’t make so half-hearted attempts.
613.The feel of pride of helping others
Resides in the high nature of making efforts.
614.No use of manly display of a sword-wielding eunuch
So is a man’s will to help others without making efforts.
615.Seeks not joy, but finishes the work first, wipes away he,
the misery of his kin and be the supporting pillar.
616.One’s exertions heaps on wealth
but idleness steeps in indigence.
617.The dark goddess of adversity dwells in one’s lethargy.
But the lotus-seated goddess dwells in one’s efforts.
618.Ill fortune is a blame to none; but knowing not things
And making no efforts is a disgrace to one.
619.Though providence makes your efforts useless
Your hard physical labour pays you the gain for the pain.
620.Those who make tireless and timely efforts
Will leave the fate behind their back.
