Marcel Poem by Francis Duggan

Marcel

In this Southern Land he has grown old and gray
His children are ageing grand-parents today
Not sorry he has been divorced by his ex wife
A two time divorcee who now leads a single life
At the R S L Club he laugh, drink, sing and dance
Marcel the old fellow from Paris in France
His English quite good but his accent with him remain
A thing from the past that most migrants retain
The clock on his life it keeps ticking away
He will be eighty on his birthday in May
Marcel is a good man he laughs easily
You will not find many as happy as he
He often socialize in the R S L Club
And he drinks with his mates in his local pub.
