Mary's Mien Of Softening Poem by james watkin

Mary's Mien Of Softening

Mary's mien of softening
Looked up to, beguiled, of little jesu
Is as eve's slowest folding
Warm-coloured quilt, of stars, patterned into.

Mary's tone of quietening
Leant into, bestilled, of the infant Lord
Is as eve's ever-fading
Circuitous drone of moth, palely scored.
