If you and others are having celebrations
If you're celebrating mass deportations,
Because, of distraught, exhausted human beings are seeking refuge
And them all you just want to ignore and refuse.
Remember, what is now the season
As we celebrate this holiday for one reason,
As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and savior
Who many sadly wouldn't allow or want as their neighbor.
Long, long time ago a family made a journey
A man and his pregnant wife on a donkey, as a gurney,
They traveled to a different country for safety and sanctuary
Joseph, and his pregnant wife Mary.
It is now once again that time of the year
When you sing with joy and drink with cheer,
As you are celebrating and preparing for this holiday
Peace on Earth and good will to all you continually say.
Maybe you shouldn't be sweetly singing Christmas songs
Remember, peace and love is for what the melody longs,
Singing about a baby with 'no crib for a bed.'
As you wish upon all immigrants sorrow and dread.
You remember that Jesus is our savior and our lord
And what he does is his Heavenly Father's accord,
But, one fact you forgot and refuse to see
Jesus also was that immigrant and a refugee.
