Massacre Poem by Hamd Ejaz

Massacre

Rating: 5.0

the sun finally rises from the pit of eternal darkness
and i stare at its brilliance sitting by the window
the light passes through the dark; slithering its blood
the sky is now, crimson with the flood

but, i watch this massacre with no compassion
my heart cold; my eyes dead; my hands motionless
even though blood splattered on the horizon
and even though the air smells of poison
yet, i remain silent; sedated and secluded

the light now passes through the trees
it is fresh; filtered and flawless
i look upon the sun through the branches
as they illuminate the dead leaves; its crutches
yet, my heart remains dark; doomed and deserted

i see the lying sun; its lying light
for it makes me see things dark rather bright
for it makes me see the path clear rather closed
for it makes me see my dreams rather my dreads
yet, i see and walk the dark road to my dread

now, the sun is returning to its grave
the dark rules supreme again
it marches triumphant leaving a prisoner
a prisoner of light to witness its glory....

this brutal battle has swallowed the horizon
yet i remain cold, confiscated and corrupt
and even though there is nothing left
i continually stare at NOTHINGNESS
perhaps, there IS something common between us!

you are my true friend; my lips murmur quitely
i see the truth in your eyes
for, they are filled with emptiness rather than lies
for, they show me my true destiny rather than prestine pathways
you are my only friend; my eyes flood silently.....

but, when we promised never to leave each other
the sun rose from its grave; and exacted its vengeance
my friend abided by the promise and died! !
and in the honor of the promise, he painted the sky red with his dark demonic density! !
