Matsya Gandha Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Matsya Gandha

Matsya gandha*

I smelt special odor
And went after
To know real reason
Was she divine woman?

I have read in old books
How king went after good looks?
Married with certain conditions
And even left kingdom for elation

One king really created history
The king gave in whole country
In exchange for recognition of love
We all believed

That was past story
But I felt it really
She was poor but attractive
I forgot to be selective

I chose her
Despite her being with copper color
She was an extra ordinary
But I gave full assurance that was necessary

Matsy*: - fish
Gandha: -… odor
