As death stared us in the eye
and we wanted to know Why
it laughed and started to defy
human beings were we in misery
as it stared and laughed we smiled
a deep joy to survive and defeat it
to beat it make it cry and bleed
and feed it at hour humble feet
but No, we rose and chose to live
and may the stones those thugs forgive! M
